Lanzarote Airport reaches a record number of passengers in August

In total, 756,534 travelers arrived on the island, 4.7% more than in the same month of 2022

César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport reached a passenger record last August. In total, 756,534 travelers arrived on the island, 4.7% more than in the same month of 2022. 

Meanwhile, the total of the eight Canary Islands airports registered 4,103,245 passengers in August, exceeding the data from the same month of 2022 by 2.6%. 

Of the total number of travelers registered, 4,081,902 correspond to commercial passengers. Of these, 2,188,694 traveled on international flights, 2.3% more than last year, and 1,893,208 did so on national flights, 3.1% more. 

In August, 38,164 aircraft movements were managed, reflecting an increase of 7.1% over the same period in 2022. In addition, 2,604 tons of merchandise were transported, 7.7% more than last year. 

Passengers  

Gran Canaria Airport registered the highest number of passengers in August with 1,129,345, which represents 3.6% more than in 2022. It is followed by Tenerife South Airport, with 957,930 passengers and an increase of 6.5% over last year; César Manrique-Lanzarote, with 756,534 and a monthly record of passengers (+4.7%); Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 563,459 (+2.4%); Fuerteventura, with 527,822 (-5.1%); La Palma, with 122,426 (-11.2%); El Hierro, with 32,514 (+7.6%) and La Gomera, with 13,215 (+4.4%). These last two airports also recorded record numbers in a month.  

Accumulated 

The Canary Islands airports registered 31,645,002 passengers so far this year, exceeding the data from January to August 2022 by 13.9%. Of the total number of travelers, 31,343,421 correspond to commercial passengers, of which 18,248,681 traveled on international flights (14.4% more than in 2022) and 13,094,740 did so on national flights (13.2% more). 

Until August, 286,095 aircraft movements were managed, 8.9% more than in 2022. In addition, 20,042 tons of merchandise were transported, which represents 3.7% less than the accumulated of last year. 

In the first eight months of 2023, Gran Canaria Airport registered 9,079,574 passengers, which represents 15.6% more than in the accumulated of 2022. 

It is followed by Tenerife South Airport, which with 7,978,317 passengers accounts for an increase of 16.3% over 2022; César Manrique-Lanzarote, with 5,430,558 (+14.2%); Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 4,042,199 (+11.8%); Fuerteventura, with 3,949,767 (+8.9%); La Palma, with 893,044 (+7.2%), El Hierro, with 197,066 (+10.3%) and La Gomera, with 74,477 passengers, where the highest percentage growth is recorded with an increase of 20.8% compared to the same period in 2022.
