The Arrecife City Council will distinguish AIDA Cruises with the Arrecife Tourism Award 2022 for its collaboration, trajectory and commitment to the capital of Arrecife.
“It is, without a doubt, one of the most important companies for the tourism sector of Arrecife, and it is an honor for this City Council to award them the Arrecife Tourism Award 2022”, says the mayor, Astrid Pérez. The award ceremony, which will be collected by a representative of the company, will be this Friday in the recess of the ordinary plenary session.
The Councilor for Tourism, Armando Santana, also values the importance of AIDA Cruises in the capital's sector, being a company “that has contributed greatly to the economic recovery after the coronavirus pandemic”.
AIDA Cruises belongs to the company Carnival Corporation, the largest vacation company in the world, and dock at the Port of Arrecife since 2007. In a normal year, the Shipping Company makes an average of 75 annual calls with its different ships on the island, with around 100,000 cruise passengers in 365 days.
The company assures that it frequently chooses Lanzarote mainly for its climate, given the summer atmosphere practically all year round, as well as for the great variety of excursions and places to visit throughout the island. In 2022 a total of 76 calls are planned in Lanzarote, with around 125,000 cruise passengers estimated, a figure higher than in 2021, when 45 calls were made.
In addition, from AIDA Cruises they point out that another factor to take into account to frequent the port of Arrecife is the high demand from cruise passengers, and they even point out that "the port of Arrecife is practically at the same level of demand as other destinations such as the Mediterranean routes or the routes of northern Europe".
