Bodega Vulcano has been awarded with one of the thirteen Grand Gold Medals in the recent edition of the Agrocanarias Official Competition, held from April 17 to 19 on the island.

The event, an initiative of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality, took place between Los Jameos del Agua and the Hotel Lancelot in Arrecife. 230 wines from the 7 islands were presented, representing an increase of 29%.

The Grand Gold Medal means obtaining a maximum score in each category, having to exceed 90 points. Thus, of the 58 prizes awarded in total, with only 13 being the highest awards, Vulcano Dulce was awarded as one of the best sweet wines in the archipelago.

The distinction of Best Wine of the Canary Islands went, for the second consecutive year, to Brumas de Ayosa Malvasía Aromática, produced by SAT Viticultores de la Comarca de Güímar, under the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Valle de Güímar (Tenerife).

"The celebration of the Agrocanarias Official Competition strengthens the image and guarantees the quality of the productions that are produced in our region. The increase in participation is very positive and a consequence of the importance that the contest is achieving, and with it the prestige of each reference presented," said Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council of the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote.

“From the Regulatory Council we congratulate all the winners and, of course, Bodega Vulcano and the people involved in this great event,” he added.
