The Cabildo of Lanzarote concludes a new edition of the 'New Employment Opportunities' (NOE) program, an initiative that has allowed 39 people to have their first work experience working in different departments of the Island Corporation during the past year.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by the councilor of the Employment Area, Ascensión Toledo, held a meeting this Monday, January 22, with the people who were part of this new edition and congratulated them for the "work carried out during the period that the initiative has lasted.
During the event, Oswaldo Betancort thanked “the involvement and dedication of these young people, recently graduated and in a situation of unemployment, who have achieved their first work experience thanks to this program and who have had the opportunity to work, side by side, with the technicians and managers of the different areas of the Cabildo.”
“The work they have done has been very important for us, since they have not only reinforced many of our services, but they have also been able to work as a team, have contributed new ideas, while they have been able to put into practice everything they have learned in their different qualifications for a whole year,” the president detailed.
For her part, the Minister of Employment, Ascensión Toledo, who also congratulated the workers of the 'NOE' program, recalling that "it has been an intense year of work and new experiences that will conclude on January 29." "I am convinced," added Toledo, "that from now on many doors will open to them in the labor and professional field."
It should be remembered that the project 'New Employment Opportunities in Lanzarote 2023-2024', launched by the Cabildo, has been financed by the 'Canary Employment Service' and the 'European Social Fund', through a subsidy for an amount of "1,226,925 euros", and by the 'Employment Area' of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which has allocated "404,175.49 euros" of its own funds to this program.
The objective of this initiative is to "promote the hiring" of unemployed people, registered in the Arrecife Employment Office, who have completed their studies in a period not exceeding three years. The required qualifications were technicians in environmental sciences, biology, tourism, agricultural engineering, geography, history, pedagogy, social education, law, technician in ADE or CADE, audiovisual communication, economist, social worker, equality agents, social integrator, psychology, higher technician in administration and finance, teaching (primary education), veterinary medicine, higher technician in electrical installations, technical architect or industrial engineering, higher technician in project design, among others.
Likewise, the Cabildo also hired three tutors who accompanied the workers in internships during their start, and a project coordinator responsible for monitoring, continuous evaluation and subsequent job placement of these workers.
