The Cabildo of Lanzarote has 25% fewer employees than in 2009

The Cabildo and the town councils currently employ 3,042 workers. The San Bartolomé Town Council at its maximum, the Teguise Town Council with the least variations over time

The island's Cabildo and the seven town councils totaled 3,042 workers at the end of 2022, according to data published by the Lanzarote Data Center. That is 581 fewer people than they employed in 2009, when there were 16% more public workers than at present.

In 2009, the Cabildo reached its maximum number of public employees in recent decades. That year there were a total of 1,609 employees in the island's main institution.

Today the Cabildo has 1,208 workers, 401 fewer workers than in 2009. This represents 25% fewer employees. At the same time, there are 105 more workers in the Cabildo than there were in 2021, when the Island Institution had the lowest number of employees.

 

The Arrecife Town Council has 50 more employees than in 2020, but 140 fewer than in 2011

In the Town Council of Arrecife there are 489 public workers at present. That is 140 fewer than it had in 2011 when it reached its maximum in recent decades. It is also 50 more than there were in 2020, the year with the lowest number of employees in the capital's Town Council.

The second Town Council on the island in terms of number of employees is that of San Bartolomé, which employs 293 people, a record for the last two decades. That is 94 more workers than it reached in 2018, the year with the smallest staff in that town council.

Teguise occupies the third place among the town councils of the island in number of employees, with 279 people. In 2015, when it reached its maximum, there were 20 more employees. The year with the fewest public employees in this town council was 2006, when the staff was 267 workers.

Next is Tías, with 276 public employees at present. At the same time, that is 40 fewer workers than it had in 2008, its peak year, and 63 more than it had in 2014, the year with the lowest number of public employees in Tías in the last two decades.

The Town Council of Yaiza, for its part, has 257 workers. The southern town council reached its maximum in 2008 with 355 workers. The year with the fewest public employees in that town council was 2020 with 252 workers.

In Tinajo there are currently 140 public employees. Its peak year was 2011 with 203 public employees, while in 2005 it only had 124, the minimum in the last 18 years.

The Town Council of Haría has 100 public employees, many fewer than the 148 workers it had in 2011 and 3 more than it had in 2015, the year in which there were the fewest public employees in the northern Town Council.
