It will publish on Bluesky instead, considering that X erodes the trust of society and alters coexistence, belittling freedom of expression and the veracity of information, with a clearly biased algorithm

La Voz de Lanzarote has decided to stop publishing on the social network X, denouncing the uncontrolled growth of disinformation on the platform and the contempt for veracity and journalistic work by its owner. Instead, La Voz will begin publishing on BlueSky and continues to be present on the TikTok, Youtube, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook and Twitch channels.

The digital media, a prominent leader in the Lanzarote audience, believes that X, far from combating fake news, fosters an environment where hoaxes spread uncontrollably within a certain political bias. In addition, it criticizes the constant contempt of its owner towards the media that prioritize rigor in information and data contrast. It also points out that since Elon Musk took over its ownership, the network seems to respond more to a political agenda than to the freedom of expression inherent in a social network.

This decision follows in the wake of other media that have chosen to withdraw from the network in the face of its disinformation drift.

La Voz de Lanzarote reaffirms its commitment to responsible journalism and demands the subsidiary responsibility of social networks for what their anonymous profiles publish, in order to eradicate the toxic violence and the profusion of disinformation that currently characterizes that communication environment.

About Bluesky

Initially promoted by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter, BlueSky is presented as an open, accessible space with a minimalist design that prioritizes the user experience. Its focus on a decentralized network model and its commitment to privacy and transparency have attracted the attention of media and users looking for alternatives to changes on other traditional platforms.

Unlike conventional social networks, BlueSky uses an open and decentralized protocol, which means that control of the data does not fall on a single entity. In practical terms, this allows users to have total management over their information and interactions, which fosters a freer environment that is resistant to censorship or manipulation.
