The "Stockazo", the first Arrecife Opportunities Fair "has been a success". This was stated by the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Consumption of the capital's City Council, Rafael Juan González Robayna, who assures that the initiative launched in collaboration with the Cabildo and the Chamber of Commerce "has been a complete success."
"There have been two days of intense commercial revitalization in the center of Arrecife and we have achieved our objective: that merchants could sell their merchandise and that consumers could purchase products at much more affordable prices", said the mayor.
In this way, González Robayna thanked the 80 businesses that decided to bet on this new formula to boost the city or, what is the same, the commercial area par excellence of the entire island.
"Although we cannot yet specify the figure, thousands of citizens have decided to do their shopping in Arrecife these two days," said the mayor.
"It has been a pilot experience. A very positive first edition, it is true, but with the flaws inherent in all things that are organized for the first time and that we will undoubtedly correct for future editions," he nuanced.
Thus, the councilor does not rule out the celebration of a night stockazo for the coming year and that with the new edition the number of participating businesses can also be expanded, as well as the type of leisure activities linked to the organization of the Fair.
"The role played by many bars and restaurants in the city has also been very important, which have participated by offering different ‘stockazo menus’, with special prices for breakfasts, soft drinks and tapas, snacks, etc.", he stressed.
On the other hand, the capital's head of Commerce and Consumption, regretted that the Norwegian Spirit cruise ship finally did not arrive in Lanzarote on Saturday as planned. "It is a very important ship for merchants since Lanzarote is the first stop it has after many days of navigation and tourists come ashore eager to shop. Even so, the merchants have conveyed their satisfaction with the sales results."
