The port of Arrecife will soon recover its "complete" connectivity with the ports of Cádiz and Huelva after the effects of Covid-19.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, from August 4, the direct maritime line between Cádiz and Lanzarote will return to normal and will re-enter the port of Arrecife on Wednesdays, as usual, to make its return journey to the peninsula on Sundays.
In this regard, it is recalled that, due to the changes produced during the last pandemic, the ship operated by Trasmediterranea did not arrive directly from Cádiz to Lanzarote, but entered other Canary ports first. A situation that the chamber entity affirms that "has significantly affected the shopping basket, which has increased in recent months."
For its part, the ship of the company FRS, which covers the route between Huelva and Lanzarote, has been operating normally since June 29. This ship arrives directly from Huelva on Sundays to continue its route through the archipelago and returns to Arrecife on Thursdays from where it departs for the Peninsula.
The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa makes a "very positive" assessment of this recovery of connectivity "which returns competitiveness to the port". "Without a doubt, it is very good news for the transport of goods and for importers, which will be reflected in the prices of the shopping basket, as the direct connection is recovered," they conclude from the chamber entity.
