With a total of 153,216 tons arriving in March, 12.5% more merchandise has been unloaded in the port of the capital of Lanzarote compared to the same month of 2022.
In total, the ports dependent on the Port Authority of Las Palmas moved 2,712,521 tons of merchandise, containers and passengers in March, 10% more than last year.
The president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, has highlighted that this mobility, "well above the data for 2022", reflects the capacity of the port community to generate "wealth and jobs".
The ports of Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario, Arinaga, Salinetas and Las Palmas accumulated 7,216,157 tons in the first quarter of the year, with an average increase of 3.5%.
The growth in the Port of Arrecife has only been surpassed by that registered in Puerto del Rosario, which has experienced a growth of 27% compared to last year, with 124,317 tons unloaded.
For the port of Las Palmas, the year-on-year variation reflected a growth of 9.56%.
The port of Arinaga had a barely perceptible year-on-year variation of 0.74%, with 39,968 tons unloaded.
The port of Salinetas also registered a reduced increase of 1.56%, receiving 77,014 tons.
