Lidl will open this Thursday its fourth store in Lanzarote, specifically in the Argana neighborhood of the capital, as part of its expansion plan in the region.

Located on the San Bartolomé Highway, next to the Argana Shopping Center, this new store has involved an investment of 4.7 million euros for its construction and equipment, and the creation of 40 direct jobs. The execution of this project was entrusted to local companies.

With the one in Argana, Lidl will have four stores in service on the island: two in Arrecife, one in Playa Honda and another in Puerto del Carmen.

The new point of sale has more than 1,440 square meters and will offer fresh products (fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, bread and pastries) and refrigerated products, also packaged dry goods, beverages, cosmetics, personal hygiene, cleaning and bazaar items. It will also include themed weeks of international food.

Canarian products worth 80 million per year

Coinciding with the opening, Lidl wanted to reaffirm its support for Canarian agri-food producers, from whom it purchased merchandise worth around 80 million euros last year.

Among the products from Lanzarote, it offers goat cheeses from El Faro, salt from the Salinas de Janubio, Batatito's from La Florita, and in the coming weeks the Antigua Malvasía Volcánica wine, a white, dry broth from Bodega La Geria, will be incorporated, which adds to its wide range of Canarian wines.

The business hours of the Lidl store in Argana are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday and has more than 90 parking spaces.

Lidl has reported that the new point of sale has been "built under strict sustainability standards and incorporates several energy efficiency measures such as 3 free charging points for electric vehicles, LED lighting or automated climate control, among others."

On the occasion of the opening of this new commercial space, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, the Councilor for Consumer Affairs and Open Government of the Cabildo, Aroa Revelo Betancort, and the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce of Arrecife, Elisabeth Merino Betancort, have visited the new establishment together with the regional director of Lidl in the Canary Islands, Jesús Toro, and members of the regional management of the company.

In the rest of the Canary Islands, Lidl has also opened four establishments in Tenerife, another four in Gran Canaria and one in Fuerteventura in the last five years.
