The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has given rise, during the plenary session held on Tuesday morning, to four new commissions: tourism, training, ports and Lanzarote 2030, which will be the axes on which the lines of work will be defined during the next four years.
In addition to these committees, the formation of working groups for more specific issues has also been planned.
The aforementioned commissions will be coordinated by the president of the entity, José Valle, and the vice president, Carmen Martinón, will be formed voluntarily by the members of the plenary session and will have the participation of external advisors in charge of advising the work of these delegations.
In this sense, two of these external advisors have already been confirmed. Jesús Nuño de la Rosa, -former president of El Corte Inglés and current CEO of Air Europa-, will assume this position, who will be in charge of advising the tourism commission; and Luis Alvarado, -climate advisor at the World Economic Forum-, who has volunteered to advise the tourism and Lanzarote 2030 committees.
A higher quality island
More specifically, the tourism commission will work on the development of a structural change in the positioning of Lanzarote as a destination, focusing its commitment on improving the quality of the offer, with special attention to gastronomy and the promotion of products linked to kilometer zero.
For its part, the assembly dedicated to ports will favor the creation of scenarios where all the actors involved in port activity can interact, with the aim of generating coordinated communication with the authority responsible for the area to increase the possibilities of offering services.
The Lanzarote 2030 delegation seeks to generate a "metamorphosis" in Arrecife based on the model designed by César Manrique, as has been done in other places on the island. In this way, it aspires to achieve a city with better aptitudes both for the people who live in it and for its visitors.
Finally, the training board will have the mission of expanding the training quality of local young people, relating it to the tourism sector. Work will therefore be done to solve the existing problems in the different tourist areas, but also to promote Dual FP, so that other sectors of the economy can diversify the products and services produced on the island.
