The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has organized an informative conference where the novelties of the Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands will be presented, in which the REF Chair of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Association of Economists of Las Palmas will also participate.
The conference will take place in the Chamber of Commerce on Monday, May 23 at 11.30 am, with an approximate duration of one hour and a half, and it will be necessary to register in advance to attend for free.
The Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands, known as the REF, is a system of particular economic regulation of the Canary Islands that seeks to facilitate exports and promote the development of the islands.
On Monday, certain specific and current issues will be discussed in the interpretation of the legislation of the Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands, to know its scope in matters that go beyond the business sector and that influence the daily life of all citizens.
In this sense, Salvador Miranda Calderín will present the historical origin of the REF, the coronavirus aid and the RIC endowment. For his part, Antonio Viñuela Llanos, member of the scientific committee of the REF Chair and partner in charge of the Garrigues Abogados office in the Canary Islands, will discuss the controversy over trading operations in the ZEC.
Likewise, Dr. Francisco Hernández González, member of the scientific committee of the REF Chair and professor at the ULPGC, will focus on the actions to be corrected in the VAT/IGIC disharmony. And finally, José Antonio Dorta Velázquez, also a member of the scientific committee of the REF Chair and professor at the ULPGC, will talk about the financial impact of Covid 19 and state aid in the framework of special temporary flexibility with reference to the Canary Islands tourism sector in 2020.
The event will be inaugurated by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Torres Fuentes; the dean of the Association of Economists of Las Palmas, Alcibiades Trancho Lemes; the vice president of the Social Council of the ULPGC, José Carlos Naranjo Sintes and the delegate of the Association of Tax Advisors of the Canary Islands in Lanzarote, Juan Tomás Brito Betancort.
It will also feature the participation of various experts from the Canary Islands in the REF, under the coordination of the professor and director of the REF Chair, Salvador Miranda Calderín.
