The Canary Islands is the autonomous community with the most expensive used electric vehicles in the country, with an average price of 41,669 euros in June, 41.4% more than last year, according to the ElectricarVO report prepared by coches.net and the GANVAM vehicle sellers' association.

The price escalation has been felt throughout Spain in recent months, a direct consequence of the lack of stock caused by the semiconductor crisis and the increase in demand in the face of rising fuel prices, which has led drivers to become more interested in electric cars.

Specifically, this market has experienced a 44% increase in sales between January and June 2022 nationwide, with a total of 6,328 cars sold. Buyers of second-hand electric cars mainly opt for very young vehicles: three quarters (75%) of the total electric cars sold between January and June 2022 were less than 3 years old.

This increase in demand has added to the lack of stock. The reduction in the supply of electric vehicles is especially relevant in the case of those under one year old, which in the first half of 2022 fell by up to 70%.

These tensions explain why the average offer price of second-hand electric vehicles continues to grow, reaching 34,326 euros nationwide, 31.5% more than in June 2021 in Spain.

It should be noted that the difference in the average offer price of vehicles powered by batteries is especially significant between autonomous communities. While in the Canary Islands, they exceed 41,000 euros, in La Rioja they stand at 20,493 euros
