The Island Government Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in a session held on Monday, has approved the increase of the credit assigned to the call for Subsidies for Operating Expenses in Agricultural Holdings for 2025, raising its initial allocation of 50,000, which was what was granted both in 2023 and for 2024, to a total of 255,000 euros for this year.

In this regard, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and councilor for Agriculture and Livestock, Oswaldo Betancort, has remarked that "with this increase we ensure that no one is left out, guaranteeing that all applicants have the necessary resources to face the costs of their farms and continue advancing towards a stronger and more competitive primary sector."

This extension responds to more than a hundred requests (126), and guarantees that the largest possible number of agricultural holdings in Lanzarote and La Graciosa can benefit from this line of support.

The agreement of the Governing Council is based on current regulations regarding subsidies and the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2023-2025, approved by the Island Council last August, which contemplates the possibility of increasing the credits allocated to the calls without the need to open a new period for submitting applications.

Consequently, the new amount assigned will be published both in the National Database of Subsidies (BDNS) and in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, specifying that this increase does not imply the opening of a new application period.

Soon, the provisional Resolution of those admitted to this call for aid will be published on the Notice Board of the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo.

The Institution chaired by Oswaldo Betancort takes a new step to collaborate in the modernization of agricultural holdings in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, promoting competitiveness and the maintenance of a strategic sector for the island's economy.
