Vehicle registrations plummeted in 2020, then there were 2,843, due to the covid 19 pandemic and remained at very low levels during 2021, when registrations amounted to 4,546.
Last year there was a progressive recovery of this sector as the year progressed until reaching 90% of pre-pandemic levels, but only in January of this year has a level of registrations in line with those that occurred in 2019 been recorded, a reference year to analyze the economic recovery of the island.
In January of this year, 381 vehicles were registered in Lanzarote, almost as many as were registered in January 2019, when there were 396.
The vast majority of registrations this January, 65% of the total, have occurred in Arrecife and Yaiza, which have totaled 126 and 123 respectively.
Next is Teguise, with 47 registrations, followed by Tías and San Bartolomé where 34 vehicles were registered in each municipality.
In Haría there were 9, while in Tinajo there were 8 vehicles registered.
