The call for applications for subsidies for the adoption of agri-environment and climate measures through the Rural Development Plan (RDP) can now be applied for in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), according to reported the news portal of the Government of the Canary Islands.
These grants, valued at 850,000 euros distributed in the annuities of 2022 and 2023, aim to encourage lines of action that favor the maintenance and biodiversity of the soil, something fundamental when obtaining products with added value.
Sectors such as beekeeping, the cultivation of prickly pears for the production of cochineal, woody crops and those at risk of extinction, transhumant grazing and the maintenance of native breeds of livestock in danger of extinction may benefit from this allocation. In addition, integrated production, and the maintenance of traditional hedges, traditional fences and walls and gavias, may also submit the application.
With this grant, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands wants to respond to the growing demand from society for environmental services, with agricultural practices that are more respectful of the environment and the landscape.
The deadline for submitting applications will be open for two months on the website of the BOC, where you can also consult the bases of the grants.
