The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has appointed José Valle as the new president, after the constitutive session of its plenary held on Wednesday morning.
This is the third term of this recent Chamber of Commerce, since its creation in 2005, succeeding the presidency of Eduardo Spínola and José Torres Fuentes.
The newly released management team and the plenary, composed of Mª Carmen Martinón and José Antonio Martínez, as first and second vice presidents, Nayra Valls as treasurer, and the four members Susana Pérez, Raquel Caraballo, Miguel Páez, Nicolás López, will direct the activities of this Public Law Corporation for the next four years, which is the legal duration of the mandate.
The event was chaired by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, with the assistance of its Deputy Minister, Justo Artiles, and the Director General of Commerce and Consumption of the Regional Government, David Mille Pomposo, noting that "after twelve years of interim period, we have managed from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands to successfully pilot the renewal process, plenums and executive committees of the four Canary Islands Chambers, free of incidents and with the total agreement of business interests with consensual single candidacies".
In addition, he indicated that "the chambers of commerce play a fundamental role in the activity and the productive sector of the Canary Islands", and highlighted their importance "when it comes to becoming a collaborative instrument of public administrations in the development of their actions". "Proof of this is the distribution of the 1,100 million euros of COVID aid, which has been carried out in the Canary Islands, through the chambers, and has been an unprecedented success and a model that other autonomous communities want to copy," he adds.
The new president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, thanked during his speech for the confidence of the entire plenary to assume the responsibility of leading this institution during the coming years. "I ask for the support and responsibility of all the people gathered here so that the Chamber of Commerce can continue to maintain the high level of activity it has carried out so far, to face the important challenges we have ahead," he said. Finally, he also dedicated a few words of recognition to the entire outgoing team, especially to the former president, José Torres Fuentes, for the work done in these years.
It should be noted that, of the 24 members that make up the plenary, 23 people attended who voted and appointed the members of the committee, an executive committee with a strong female presence, since half are women with a long track record of experience, because they all formed part of the previous legislature that lasted twelve years.
The constitutive sessions of the Chambers of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura are scheduled to be held throughout this month of June.
