The Consumer Price Index (CPI) remained unchanged in the Canary Islands in March compared to February, while so far this year it has risen by 0.4% and in relation to the same month of 2024 it has increased by 1.6%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
By provinces, prices in March remain stable in both Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, although in the eastern province the year-on-year variation is higher: 1.8% compared to 1.4% in the western province.
By groups, in the Canary Islands prices fell in March in housing (-1.3% compared to February), in household goods (-0.2%), in transport (-0.7%) and in communications (-0.1%).
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose (0.8%), clothing and footwear (0.8%), medicine (0.5%), education (0.1%), hotels, cafes and restaurants (1%) and others (0.4%).
There were no variations with respect to February in food and non-alcoholic beverages or in leisure and culture.
