This Thursday, the 1st Canary Islands Mobility Meeting: Land, Sea and Air was held, bringing together authorities from the seven councils of the Canary Islands and representatives of the main companies in the transport sector. The aim of the meeting was to create a common framework of initiatives to face current challenges through collaboration and innovation.
The event, organised by the Nos Movemos Foundation in close collaboration with the Líneas Romero Foundation, was held at the Hotel Santa Catalina and was attended by all the island councils and the main land, sea and air mobility companies. María Fernández, Director General of Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands, also attended the event.
During the day, crucial issues for the development of mobility in the Canary Islands were discussed, such as intelligent specialisation, social impact and sustainable and digital mobility. In addition, the importance of creating strategic alliances that provide value and allow the implementation of actions of common interest in a constantly evolving political, economic, social and environmental context was highlighted.
Among the topics discussed, emphasis was placed on alignment with the European Green Pact and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, as well as the importance of talent development and adherence to the Pact for Skills. The Transformative Mobility Platform was also presented, an initiative that seeks to promote mobility in the Canary Islands through public-private collaboration and innovation in the sector.
The meeting concluded with a note of optimism and commitment from all participants, who expressed their interest in being part of this platform for a transformative mobility for the islands. In this way, a sustainable and beneficial development is predicted for the transport of the entire Canarian society and its visitors.
