Canary Islands grants 400,000 euros for social innovation projects

The minimum and maximum subsidy limits per subsidized project are 25,000 and 200,000 euros

The Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment, has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands the Call for grants for social innovation projects this September 12 with a value of 400,000 euros.

In this way, the Government offers the opportunity to generate solutions for new challenges and involves mobilizing the population in favor of social innovation, facilitating greater structuring of the innovative ecosystem through participatory action dynamics, with real impact on the most pressing social demands.

The deadline for submitting applications is 15 business days from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the BOC and will be done through the computer application for managing the call in the electronic headquarters.

The subsidy is produced by the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), which is holding its third call to promote the development of a more sustainable Canary Islands in social and environmental terms in order to contribute to guaranteeing levels of employment and quality of life for citizens.

The beneficiary entities in the resolution of the IS2022 call were MODOBIM SL and Trampolín Solidario SLU. The first, with the tokenMys project, a new concept that connects ecology and culture, with the triple objective of promoting sustainability, generating synergies and promoting culture; and the second entity, with the El Hierro Circular Economy Development Plan project, an ambitious proposal that aims to offer an innovative solution to the current textile waste management system.

With the 2021 social innovation call, the beneficiary entities have launched projects such as 'Nut4Health, technology to end hunger' to reduce malnutrition in children up to 5 years of age and pregnant and lactating women, improving the enjoyment of their right to health of the entity SIC4Change.

On the other hand, the Asociación Factoría de Cohesión Ciudad Puerto Islas Canarias allocated the subsidy to the 'Sea of Opportunities' project, which aims to create different actions of methodological and technological innovation for the launch of a new line of business, with the aim of offering actions to improve the employability of people in social disadvantage, which takes advantage of the infinite opportunities offered by the blue economy in our archipelago in the interest of social inclusion, improvement of employability, training, promotion of business creation opportunities or social insertion.

The entity X-Net Software Solutions also presented the project 'XVOZ – The Voice of Women' to build an automated system applied to gender violence through the recognition of emotions in speech that, through a proprietary AI system and a database with consolidated locutions, detects alterations of emotions through the processing of acoustic and visual signals generated during human interactions and develop an API that offers the analyzed data to third-party applications for its exploitation.
