The Canary Islands launches a call for subsidies for the implementation of thermal renewable energy facilities in different sectors of the islands' economy, endowed with more than four million from the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Thermal renewables harness heat from organic matter (biomass), from the Earth's interior (geothermal) and from the sun. Unlike photovoltaics, which extracts energy from sunlight, solar thermal technology harnesses its heat.
The regional minister responsible for Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, explained that these aids are aimed at self-employed workers, SMEs, large companies and public administrations.
Among the eligible actions is the installation or renovation of thermal infrastructures with renewable energies for the production of cold or heat in buildings, solar thermal installations or low, medium and high temperature applications in production processes (sterilization, cleaning, thermal baths for surface treatment, pasteurization, vehicle washing, air conditioning of industrial buildings, livestock and greenhouses, etc.).
The deadline for resolution of the call is six months and the submission of applications must be made, before December 31, 2023, through the electronic headquarters.
People who wish to obtain personalized and free advice on how to take advantage of this call can contact the Green Offices of the Canary Islands. These aids will be granted in strict order of presentation of the corresponding applications until the funds are exhausted.
