The Strike Committee of Canal Gestión Lanzarote has decided to provisionally suspend the indefinite strike announced for July 31 "by virtue of the agreement reached at noon this Friday with the company's Management". The workers point out that "the provisional suspension has a time of 45 days, exactly until September 13". A time that the parties have established to "open a negotiation process in order to address all the issues raised in this conflict, including the termination of the 69 work and service employment contracts".
The Committee highlights "that this agreement has been possible as a result of the mediation of the president of the Water Consortium, an entity that has been present at the meetings held with the company, mediation that they appreciate for supporting the demands and rights of the workers of this company".
As a first measure to provisionally suspend the announced strike and open a negotiation process, there is "the commitment on the part of the Management of Canal Gestión Lanzarote not to proceed to terminate the employment relationship of any other worker who has a work contract and service that comes to an end within the period given by the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate". The body that has notified that within two months the company will transform the workers who currently have a work and service contract into permanent ones.
For its part, the Management of Canal Gestión will raise the aforementioned requirement to the Community of Madrid, given its status as a public company. Finally, they point out that the agreement and its terms will be transferred by the Works Council to the Workers' Assembly on July 31.
