Boluda Corporación Marítima and Car Canarias Logistic, a company formed by Toyota Canarias, Grupo Ari and Grupo Cabrera Medina, companies that manage more than 50% of the Canary Islands automotive market, have inaugurated the vehicle yard that will allow optimizing and making the import and management of cars in the Canary Islands more sustainable.

The multipurpose terminal, located in the facilities of Boluda Maritime Terminals Las Palmas in the Port of La Luz, has an area of 18,000 square meters with capacity to house up to 1,100 vehicles, providing a key space for the logistics operation of the sector.

In this event, the representatives of the companies were accompanied by the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo; the vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez; the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez; and the president of Boluda Shipping, Ignacio Boluda; and a large representation of the business and port sector of the city.

In the words of the corporate director of Boluda in the Canary Islands, Javier Climent, "it is a pride to present this innovative project, the result of collaboration between the maritime, logistics and automotive industries, which reinforces our historical link with the sea and our commitment to the Canary Islands.

Since our foundation in 1920, Boluda Corporación Marítima has led the sector with its Boluda Towage and Boluda Shipping divisions, contributing to the development of the Canary Islands ports, especially in the loading and unloading of vehicles. This initiative reflects our commitment to creating wealth and employment in the areas where we operate and shows our ability to create synergies, promoting sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint and traffic on the roads."

The director of Car Canarias Logistic and general manager of Grupo Ari, Fernando González, highlighted the sustainability and efficiency of the project. "This alliance between strategic partners reinforces our commitment to logistics efficiency and sustainability."

"Together, we are promoting a more agile and environmentally friendly operation, optimizing the import, management and distribution of vehicles in the Canary Islands. This collaboration is a firm commitment to reducing the environmental impact and improving efficiency in each stage of the vehicle import process, ensuring sustainable growth for the automotive sector in the archipelago," he added.

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, emphasized the importance of the project for the economic development of the Canary Islands. "We must continue our business growth in such a way that it generates stable employment without damaging our environment, which is the most precious asset we have. Therefore, we celebrate that this infrastructure allows us to reduce the carbon footprint, reducing polluting emissions and favoring traffic decongestion."

Clavijo also highlighted the role of technology in the modernization of the Canary Islands and the creation of jobs. "We are facing a clear commitment to modernization and the achievement of greater efficiency, thanks to the use of proprietary software that allows the streamlining of processes between the dock and the final customer with the incorporation of innovative systems in which Artificial Intelligence plays an important role."

Sustainability and scalability

Sustainability is the central axis of the Car Canarias Logistic project, since the unified management of the multipurpose terminal allows optimizing the management of vehicle transport, which reduces CO2 emissions and other polluting gases.

Through a better rotation of vehicles and the reduction of unnecessary trips, the company aims to reduce the use of additional resources such as cranes and vehicles, which translates into a significant reduction of the carbon footprint. The company has a modern infrastructure that optimizes the use of resources and minimizes the use of territory.

With a long-term vision, Boluda Corporación Marítima and Car Canarias have designed a project to guarantee a scalable and flexible logistics model, capable of adapting to the demands of the automotive market in the Canary Islands. In addition, the space is enabled as a REF warehouse, which offers greater flexibility in the management of the stock of cars and facilitates the rapid distribution and commercialization of vehicles according to demand, which will result in efficiency and customer satisfaction.

With the aim of offering a comprehensive service, Car Canarias has created Grúas Canarias Car, which allows to fully manage the transport and distribution of automobiles throughout the Canary archipelago.

This initiative ensures a fast and efficient delivery of vehicles, while maintaining the commitment to reduce polluting emissions. Car Canarias seeks to take advantage of the multi-brand capacity of Grúas Canarias Car, which guarantees greater operational flexibility, as well as a faster and more effective response in the distribution of automobiles in the Canary Islands.
