The esplanade of the San José Castle hosted this Thursday the world presentation of the Audi Q8 e-tron, the "star" car of the multinational Audi. "Many people will want to know why we have chosen Lanzarote as the place to hold this launch: Audi as a premium brand only chooses the best landscapes and scenarios in the world for its events, and Lanzarote undoubtedly has them. We also share the same ideal in terms of sustainability that this island has," said Benedikt Still, spokesman for communication, product and technology of Audi international.
More than 150 media outlets will travel through Lanzarote at the wheel of the "imposing" Audi Q8 e-tron, the flagship car of the German brand, which is also 100% electric, and is expected to revolutionize the automotive industry of the future with the technology it carries inside.
For her part, the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, also recalled that "for Lanzarote it is an opportunity to associate its name with a brand of the prestige and recognition of Audi in an event in which the manufacturer is demonstrating its firm commitment to the energy transition, an aspiration shared by the island's society and its institutions."
The Cabildo of Lanzarote, Audi AG, and Audi Canarias (Domingo Alonso) have participated in this event in the design of a route that passes through the main places of the island, including the Timanfaya National Park, the Farmer's Monument or the El Golfo road, where journalists from newsrooms from all continents are photographing and recording the vehicle with our landscape as the protagonist. "Developing an activity of this importance is a challenge to choose the routes of greatest landscape value and respect environmental requirements," Corujo recalled.
Nestor Rodríguez, head of the Audi brand in the Canary Islands, also spoke of how "well the Canarian market is welcoming the electrification of the car", and pointed out "that the great commitment of the German multinational to electrification in our public is a success."
"A large multinational respects a small and fragile territory like Lanzarote”
"I would like to highlight the sensitivity of the Audi team, which has shown every time we have had to introduce some limitation to their proposal, and how, together with our team, they have always sought alternatives that would make their needs compatible with the preservation of our natural spaces," said the president of the Cabildo, "it seems to me an example to highlight that a huge and powerful multinational respects a small and fragile territory like Lanzarote," Corujo concluded.
Still, from Audi, also had words of recognition for César Manrique and the legacy he has left on the island and that they are visiting, since a large part of the program takes place in the Farmer's Monument, the Mirador del Río or in Timanfaya, "we share his values," said the Audi spokesman.
Finally, the president stressed that "this is the largest indirect promotion action that is remembered on the island, and this should be an objective." "This is a line of work that we have set ourselves: to turn Lanzarote into a reference point for the presentation of high-quality products, to turn it into a venue for academic, business and social events and into an incomparable place for the filming of all kinds of audiovisual productions, demanding the same level of respect with which Audi has acted. The fact that they have chosen us for an event of this importance confirms that we are on the right track," Corujo concluded.
