Aldi will open a new supermarket in Yaiza, in the Playa Blanca area, on January 29. This opening on the island of Lanzarote will be the first of the four that the company has planned in the archipelago during 2025. Specifically, the store will be located on Avenida Femes, 7, will have more than 1,200 square meters of sales area and a staff of 19 workers.
This new Aldi supermarket represents a new shopping option for the residents of Yaiza. In it, customers will be able to find an assortment of high-quality products at the "lowest possible price". Nearly nine out of ten products offered by Aldi are own-brand, 80% of national origin and 20% from the Canary Islands. In addition, customers will be able to enjoy weekly offers on basic items and others for a complete, convenient, simple and best possible price purchase.
Aldi's discount model: low prices, own brand and national origin
The keys to Aldi's model offer its customers ways to save on their usual shopping basket. The supermarket chain has intensified the periodic review of its products and processes, managing to lower the price of more than 550 products in all its supermarkets in the Canary Islands. The company thus facilitates annual savings of more than 130 euros with the application of permanent discounts of up to 42% in different product categories.
Thanks to this discount model, Aldi is consolidating itself as a relevant and reliable shopping option in Spanish homes. In the last year, ALDI has gained more than 387,000 shoppers and is positioned as the supermarket chain that has grown the most in Spain in customers in 2024, as well as in the last three years, thanks to an assortment that ensures quality while guaranteeing savings for families. Currently, there are already more than 7,445,000 Spanish households that shop at ALDI.
The Canary archipelago will concentrate 10% of Aldi's planned openings for 2025
This new opening in Yaiza is part of the ambitious expansion plan that Aldi is carrying out in Spain, which maintains the pace of recent years with the forecast of about 40 new establishments this year, spread throughout the national territory. Specifically, about 10% of the openings will be held in the Canary Islands.
Since arriving in the Canary Islands in July 2022, the supermarket chain has undertaken significant growth. Aldi closed 2024 with 15 stores and around 19,400 m2 of sales area in the Canary archipelago, about 3,200 m2 more than the previous year. In total, the company opened three new establishments in the region last year, including its arrival in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with an establishment located in the old tobacco factory and Victoria cinemas. In addition, Aldi opened supermarkets in Los Realejos (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) and in Sonnenland-Maspalomas, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Las Palmas).
Within Aldi's expansion plans for this year, its consolidation in the Balearic Islands and the opening of new stores in the northern region of the country, with openings in the Basque Country, Aragon, Galicia and Cantabria, also stand out. The company will also boost itself in strategic territories - Andalusia, the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Community and Catalonia will group more than half of the planned expansion - and will reaffirm its growth in other regions such as the Region of Murcia.
