The supermarket chain Spar will give children's workshops in Lanzarote on the occasion of the Canary Islands Day from May 23 to 28.
The objective of this initiative is to highlight the Canarian customs, so that the little ones learn more about their roots through the game. "The intention is to value what our grandparents achieved with so much effort and sacrifice, and what better way to preserve our legacy than through children," they say from Spar.
To participate in the workshops it will be necessary to reserve a place and you can choose between two shifts, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., both will be taught in the Eurospar gallery in Altavista.
From May 23 to 28: exhibition of traditional Canarian elements
The artisan Estefanía González, from Experimenta Lanzarote, will be in charge of showing this exhibition, which will feature elements such as rosettes.

Monday 23: gofio and mojo workshop
The little ones will be able to make their own elaborations and get to know Canarian cuisine first-hand, especially gofio and mojo, knowing how they are obtained.

Tuesday 24: pintaderas workshop
Children will play and create their own works of art related to the aboriginal culture, through clay and pintaderas. In addition, they can take them home once finished.

Wednesday 25: create your tunera boat
The objective of this workshop is to create and play as our ancestors did, but from the point of view of recycling.
"In the past, the toys we know today did not exist, so our grandparents had to devise them with the means they had, an example of this were the penca or tunera toys," they point out from Spar.

Thursday 26: creations with salt
Salt is part of the identity of Lanzarote, especially the salt of Janubio, so the little ones will be able to know in this workshop where it is obtained and what is obtained from it, such as creating their own bath salts and decorative jars.

Friday 27: cheese workshop
The La Destila cheese factory will teach the participants the work of milking, how the curd is obtained and everything necessary to make yogurts and cheeses, so that they can be authentic cheesemakers for a day.

Between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. all those who wish can attend a story session where a mix of the most popular Canarian stories will be read, with the voice of Vicky Dos Santos and enlivened with the violin of Aarón Márquez.
