An institutional and technical delegation headed by the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has completed an intense work agenda in the city of Dublin, Ireland, within the framework of the international event Taste of Dublin 2025, with the aim of strengthening commercial, gastronomic and tourist ties with the Irish market.
During three days, from June 11 to 13, the delegation held strategic meetings with key players in the Irish tourism sector such as Aer Lingus, the Irish Association of Adventure Tourism (IAAT), travel agencies, specialized media, the Dublin City Council and the Spanish Ambassador to Ireland, among others. Likewise, institutional meetings and networking activities were held to strengthen Lanzarote's position as a benchmark, sustainable and quality destination. The Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce and the Tías City Council also participated in these activities.
In addition, future collaborations were explored with the Pendulum Summit, with a view to organizing a world leadership forum in Lanzarote in 2026, and the agenda was closed with a working breakfast with the Spanish ambassador, focused on the Spain-Ireland post-Brexit roadmap and the proposal for Lanzarote to host the Spanish-Irish Talks, in October of this year.
The Taste of Dublin 2025 event was the perfect showcase to highlight the gastronomic excellence of Lanzarote under the Saborea Lanzarote label, in coordination with Saborea España and the Spanish Tourism Office. The Lanzarote chefs Jon Pérez, Yeray Gil and Vicente Félix Rodríguez offered tastings and culinary experiences to the Irish public and specialized media, consolidating the island's position as a leading wine and gastronomy destination.
International strategy
“The Irish market has shown exceptional loyalty to Lanzarote. Our presence here responds to the commitment to continue cultivating that relationship, diversify our offer and position ourselves as a sustainable, safe destination with its own identity,” said Oswaldo Betancort. “We have come to listen, strengthen alliances and open new doors for the island's economy,” he added.
For his part, the CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, highlighted that “air connectivity and the commitment of Irish tour operators are key to the tourist future of Lanzarote. This mission has served to identify new collaboration opportunities and directly transfer the added value that our island represents, both in high season and in months of lower affluence.”
This action is part of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote's international strategy for 2025, which seeks to consolidate the island's presence in the main European issuing markets through segmented, innovative promotion focused on quality, with a transversal vision that combines tourism, culture and gastronomy as pillars of development.
