The Department of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified 2,246 final resolutions of the call for university scholarships for the academic year 2024/25, with a planned payment of 1,457,611.94 euros. Since the beginning of the process, on September 27, until the closing of the extended period on November 5, a total of 10,817 applications were received, reflecting the administration's effort to guarantee equitable access to academic training.
These subsidies, managed within the framework of established procedures, seek to ensure that students enrolled in universities and higher education centers can have this public funding within reasonable timeframes. The counselor Migdalia Machín emphasized that: "The management of these scholarships responds to the Department's commitment to promoting accessible academic training, ensuring that resources reach in a timely manner those who trust in the public aid system to complete and expand their studies."
Among the novelties of this call, the notification through appearance at the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands stands out. This system allows the interested party or their representative, duly identified, to access the content of the resolution. It has been established that the notification will be considered rejected if its content is not accessed within ten days. In addition, emails have been sent to inform applicants about the availability of these notifications. The deadline for submitting appeals for reconsideration will be one month, counted from the day following the notification.
Information regarding the resolutions will also be available, for informational purposes, on the website of the Department of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture and in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC). With this call, the Government of the Canary Islands reaffirms its commitment to "the continuous improvement in the management of scholarships, allowing students to have the necessary support to advance in their academic training."
