The president of the Canary Islands Government, Ángel Víctor Torres, warned this Friday that a second confinement in the archipelago, if the evolution of the pandemic worsens, would be "dramatic" for the archipelago because "there would be no possible public response."
In an informative breakfast in which he has taken stock of his first year of legislature, Torres commented that the public sector "has no back" to withstand another stoppage of the economy and the fall in income, hence the pandemic has to "live" with the activity.
Torres insisted that without a second confinement the economic situation is already "difficult", but he said that it will be possible to "close well" the year 2020 thanks to the use of the surplus, while there is "more uncertainty" for the period between 2021 and 2023.
