The Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jessica de León, clarified this Tuesday that the legal avenue some autonomous communities are exploring to unblock access to employment for migrants who are processing the regularization of their administrative status "will not be immediate".

When asked about it by AHI deputy Raúl Acosta, who spoke of a "fair and pragmatic measure," De León pointed out that this is a state competence and that the Canary Islands Government cannot modify the legal requirements or the documentation required to register as an unemployed job seeker.

He explained that it was at a meeting with the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy where "some" autonomous community indicated that it was working on a decree that would allow access to employment for people in the process of administrative regularization, but "only in social insertion companies".

Canary Islands' stance on the matter at said meeting was that "we must continue advancing in a dialogue process and that it would study this issue," the minister indicatedMeanwhile, in the archipelago, work is underway on **employment integration itineraries** for vulnerable groups, and last August an agreement was signed between the Canary Employment Service, the Ministry of Social Welfare, and the MAIN Foundation for the integration of 450 young peopleA program that, De León has said, "needs improvements," given that "many of these young people are being referred" to other parts of Spain "mid-training."
