The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced this Thursday the start dates for the next 2022-2023 academic year: Infant and Primary will start on September 9 and ESO and Baccalaureate on the 12th of that month.
Specifically, the academic activity for Infant and Primary students will begin on September 9 and end on June 23, Education specifies in a statement.
In the case of Compulsory Secondary Education, classes will start on September 12, and will also conclude on June 23, while Baccalaureate and Baccalaureate for Adult Persons will last from September 12 to June 23 (the first year) and until May 19 (the second year).
The training programs of Adapted Vocational Training (FP), face-to-face and distance FP, and Basic Training for Adult Persons will also begin for students on September 12 and end on June 23, although the last year of the Higher Grade Training Cycles of FP will end on June 7, while the specific course of access to Intermediate Grade Training Cycles will begin on September 19, and will extend until June 23.
The elementary and professional teachings of Music will begin on September 12 to end on June 16, although the 6th course will do so on June 8. In addition, the training cycles of the Middle and Higher Grades of Plastic Arts and Design will take place from September 12 to June 23, although the 2nd course of the Higher Grade training cycles will end on June 7.
Sports Education is scheduled to begin on September 12 and close on June 23, while Higher Artistic Education in Music, Design and Dramatic Art will last from September 12 to June 20.
The course "That´s English!" will start on September 26 and end on May 19, while the preparation course for entrance exams to Training Cycles will begin on September 26 to end on May 12. In addition, the preparation course for the free test to directly obtain the Graduate in Compulsory Secondary Education will extend from September 26 to May 5.
The dates of the preparation course for the entrance exams to the University for people over 25 years of age will be established once the corresponding dates are made public by each of these institutions.
On the other hand, both the Mentor Classrooms and Basic Computing will begin on September 12 and end on June 23, while the Special Regime Language Teachings will begin on September 21, and from May 31 the classification and certification tests will begin.
In the next academic year, the periods corresponding to Christmas (December 23, 2022 to January 6, 2023, both inclusive) and Easter (April 3 to 7) will be considered as school holiday periods.
In 2023, the holidays will be those established by the regulations in the calendar of public holidays in the scope of the Autonomous Community, and in 2022 they will be October 12 (National Day of Spain), November 1 (All Saints' Day), December 6 (Spanish Constitution Day), and December 8 (Immaculate Conception).
It is also considered a holiday for academic purposes December 7, 2022, Teacher and Student Day.
In the same way, the holidays in Fuerteventura will be September 16 (festival of Nuestra Señora de la Peña); in El Hierro, September 24 (Nuestra Señora de los Reyes); in Gran Canaria, September 8 (festival of Nuestra Señora del Pino); in La Gomera, October 3 (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe), and in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, September 15 (festival of Nuestra Señora de Los Volcanes).
The Resolution applies to all public and private centers that teach Infant, Primary, Compulsory Secondary, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training (FP), training programs of Adapted FP, Adult Education, Sports Education, Professionals of Plastic Arts and Design, Elementary and professional music and dance, Higher Artistic Music, Design, Dramatic Art and Languages.
The centers not dependent on the Ministry that are authorized to teach the first cycle of Infant may adapt it according to their organizational needs
