The Government of the Canary Islands will not appeal the suppression of the curfew before the Supreme Court (TS), as suggested by the reports of scientists and jurists, but it will maintain the perimeter closure of the islands in levels 3 and 4, as confirmed by the regional president, Ángel Víctor Torres.
In statements to the media, the president has advanced that in this afternoon's Governing Council, the order of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) will be analyzed, with the reports of the legal and Public Health services, and he defended the appeal on the perimeter closure, understanding that it is a "singular action" of the Canary Islands.
As he did this Tuesday in the Plenary of the Parliament, Ángel Víctor Torres indicated that although the TSJC has rejected measures such as the curfew, the most important one that it has validated has been the limitation of people according to the alert levels, also endorsed by the Prosecutor's Office.
The second most important measure, according to Torres, is the perimeter closure of the islands in levels 3 and 4. In this sense, he said that when an island is closed in one of these two levels it is because it is "bad" and clarified that the entry and exit of people is not prevented, as long as they have a negative diagnostic test.
Regarding the curfew, the president indicated that the legal and scientific reports maintain that it is the least relevant measure, since there are other complementary measures such as the closure of catering spaces or the limitation of capacity, and insisted that even if the curfew falls, there cannot be crowds.
