Canary Islands registers two more cases of monkeypox and notifies six new ones under study

The archipelago already has six confirmed positives and 10 cases under study, all of them with a "favorable" evolution and in home isolation

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported this Thursday two new cases of monkeypox, both of people residing in Gran Canaria. Therefore, there are already a total of six confirmed cases in the archipelago, three in Gran Canaria and three in Tenerife. Of the analyzes carried out, one of those considered as suspected has been ruled out.

Also, this Thursday six new cases have been reported to the Coordinating Center for Alerts and Emergencies of the Ministry of Health for study, all of them from Gran Canaria. These are five men and one woman and their samples will be sent for study to the National Center for Microbiology.

Three of the cases have been classified as probable for meeting the clinical and epidemiological criteria, while the other three respond to suspected cases, presenting only clinical criteria.

In total, with these six new ones, there are ten cases that continue to be studied in the archipelago, nine of them in Gran Canaria and one in Fuerteventura.
