The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, announced this Wednesday that next Friday there will be a technical commission with representatives from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry to try to seal the transfer of powers in coasts, as stated in the Statute of Autonomy.
In response to a question from the Nationalist Group in the control session, he pointed out that if the demands of the autonomous community with respect to planning and the sanctioning regime are resolved, the signing will be effective in January.
Regarding the highway agreement, he indicated that an agreement was reached with the Ministry of Transportation to transfer 500 million in two annuities and the rest of the money recognized by the Supreme Court ruling "must be respected" and if not, the possible execution of the sentence remains.
"There is a mandate to ensure that addenda are introduced in 2026 and 2027," he commented, pointing out that his Government defends "firmly" the interests of the islands and criticizing CC for having been at the head of the Presidency for 26 years and the archipelago was "in the tail end" of welfare.
Pablo Rodríguez, president of the Nationalist Group, has accused Torres of defending "constantly the indefensible" because when the State complies with the law "he celebrates it pompously and thanks it" and when it does not fulfill its commitments "he justifies it to the unjustifiable" or says that "next week it will be resolved."
Along those lines, he has questioned the breaches of promises regarding the transfer of powers in coasts or what is not recognized in the highway agreement, for which he has demanded "firmness" from the president and that he not govern "with good intentions."
Rodríguez said that when the general interests of the islands "are put first," the "unanimity" of the Chamber is obtained.
