The Canary archipelago closed this Tuesday accumulating seven consecutive days without registering deaths from coronavirus, a day in which two new positives and six hospital discharges have been added, according to the latest data up to 8:00 p.m. provided by the Government of the Canary Islands.
In this way, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Canary Islands amount to 2,379, of which 2,096 have already been discharged. Therefore, there are 122 active patients, since a total of 161 have died so far in the pandemic crisis.
As of today, the active cases in the ICU amount to five people, all on the island of Tenerife, while the active but hospitalized on the floor reach 19. A total of 98 cases are still with the disease but in their homes.
Of the positives registered by the virus, which already affects some 56 municipalities, 1,290 are women and 1,089 are men.
Tenerife monopolizes 66.9% of the declared cases
66.9 percent of the total declared cases have been registered in Tenerife, with 1,591 --75 active cases--, compared to 594 in Gran Canaria --35 active--, which is the second island with the most affected.
The deaths by islands are distributed as follows: 110 deaths in Tenerife; 6 in La Palma; 39 in Gran Canaria, and 6 in Lanzarote.
Canary Islands, the community with the fewest deaths in residences
On the other hand, the Canary Islands continues as the autonomous community with the lowest number of elderly people who are users of public, subsidized and private nursing homes who have died in the framework of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Currently there are 19 deaths in centers for the elderly on the islands due to the coronavirus, 18 of them in Tenerife and one in Gran Canaria.
For its part, in the last three weeks there has been one death in residences --on May 14 there were 18 deaths--, which took place on the island of Tenerife
