New tragedy on the route to the archipelago's coasts, where four immigrants have fallen into the sea from a boat located 270 miles south of the Canary Islands and a fifth died on the boat. Due to the distance, Maritime Rescue requested help from the 'Ever Grace' ship, which was in the area, to carry out the rescue of the people on board the cayuco.

The boat was occupied by a total of 34 people, all of sub-Saharan origin, of which four fell into the sea during the rescue, so instructions were given to another merchant ship, which was in the area, the 'Fortaleza Knutsen,' to search for the missing. However, Maritime Rescue reports that they have not found the four people at the moment.

One person died on the boat

Of the 30 people rescued, the ship reported that four of them were in "poor condition", all of them needing urgent medical assistance. For this reason, the Air Force was mobilized and transferred three people to the Doctor Negrín Hospital, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The fourth person did not arrive in time to be assisted by the medical services, dying on the boat itself.

As for the rest of the rescued migrants who are on board the 'Ever Grace', which this Wednesday was still about 200 miles south of the Canary Islands, they will not be transferred to the Talia coast guard. Maritime Rescue points out that it is not feasible to carry out the operation, so the ship will transfer them to the port of Las Palmas.

The rescued boat was spotted by a merchant ship last Monday, when it notified the Rescue services. However, the Sasemar 103 plane was not able to locate it until this Tuesday, when it was about 270 miles south of the Canary Islands, at which time it mobilized the Talia coast guard, as well as the merchant ships 'Fortaleza Knutsen" and the 'Ever Grace'.
