Canary Islands has registered a total of 5,357 positive cases of coronavirus in the last two weeks, of which 536 correspond to people (10%) who had received the full vaccination schedule. Of these, 21 required hospital admission but "none were admitted to the ICU."
This is according to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, which states that of the total number of cases, 3,821 people (72%) were not vaccinated, while 1,413 (17.2%) had received only one dose.
In addition, of the 5,357 positives counted in the archipelago in the last two weeks, 123 people (2.3%) had to be hospitalized, of which 76 were not vaccinated and 21 had the full schedule. As for the 123 people who had to be hospitalized, 14 were admitted to the ICU, of which 12 were unvaccinated and two had one dose.
The Ministry of Health adds that 90 percent of the reported cases have been diagnosed in non-immunized population, although it admits that at this time transmission occurs mainly in young unvaccinated population.
A total of 979,440 Canarians have the complete schedule
In the Canary Islands, a total of 979,440 people have already received the full vaccination schedule against the coronavirus, which represents 49.95 percent of the target population over 12 years of age.
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has administered 2,175,485 doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 of the 2,359,310 received, which represents 92.21 percent.
In addition, a total of 1,298,921 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine (66.25% of the target population, which amounts to 1,960,774 people).
Once the two doses have been completed in groups 1 and 2 (those corresponding to residents and workers in social health centers and front-line health professionals), in group 4, that of large dependent home residents, 77.91 percent are immunized with the two doses.
As for group 5, composed of people over 66 years of age not residing in senior centers, 265,036 people have received the two doses (91.64%), while 100 percent vaccination with one dose of this group, composed of 289,222 people, has been completed.
For its part, group 3 is 100 percent with one dose and 82.14 percent with two doses; and group 6, composed of 55,000 people including teachers, firefighters and police, 93.11 percent have at least one dose and 91.22 percent have the full schedule.
As for group 7, which includes the population under 60 years of age at risk of severe Covid-19, the first dose has been completed, since all 12,387 people included have been vaccinated, while 84.57 percent of this group has received the two doses.
For its part, 121,097 people between 60 and 65 years of age who make up group 8 have received one dose, which represents 79.42 percent of that group; while 50.65 percent have the full schedule. As for group 9, formed by people between 50 and 59 years of age, 88.22 percent have received one dose and 88.74 percent have two doses.
In the case of group 10, which includes people between 40 and 49 years of age, 175,379 people (54.46%) have received the two doses, while in group 11, composed of people between 30 and 39 years of age, 130,415 people (46.92%) have at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and 11.44 percent have the full vaccination schedule.
Finally, group 12, composed of people between 20 and 29 years of age, has a coverage with one dose of 18.78 percent, which means 47,284 people vaccinated; and in group 13, composed of adolescents between 12 and 19 years of age, there are 7,903 people who have received one dose of the vaccines, 4.40 percent of the target population of this age group.
