A bus driver has contacted La Voz to report the traffic jam that occurs in the Gulf due to the massive influx of tourists throughout the year.

The vehicles circulating, mostly “rent a car”, hinder the proper circulation of buses in the Charco de los Clicos, also known as Charco Verde or Lago Verde. Likewise, this worker states that these rental vehicles do not respect parking spaces, leaving the car “wherever they want” without any control.

This is not a recent case; in 2024, it was concluded that, according to Volume II of the Study on the carrying capacity in areas of high intensity of use in the Natural Park of Los Volcanes, prepared by Gesplan and the Cabildo de Lanzarote with European funds, the greatest influx in parking lots occurs when it coincides with different tourist excursion buses, leading to a collapse in parking lots that causes tourists to park in unauthorized areas without respecting the natural space

In that same year, according to data from the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Charco de los Clicos received a 31% more visitors per day than its load capacity, sometimes disregarding marked trails and prohibitions.
