La Graciosa is once again adding complaints about the "lack of management", but this time, in relation to "the security and protection" that exists on the island.
A local resident acknowledges that "there is only one policeman", "who works in shifts" and "when he leaves, his post is left empty", "if he is there in the morning, there is no policeman in the afternoon" and vice versa, he relates.
He confesses that "there have been incidents in restaurants" and no action could be taken because "the police did not show up". A "lack of protection" due to the fact that officers are sometimes "not on duty", he argues.
A situation apparently "allowed by the City Council", since "they are not interested in changing it", he makes clear. On the island, they send a "police couple" from Teguise or the Civil Guard, who begin "their day at 9:00 a.m. and leave at 12:30 p.m.", he criticizes.
"All towns have police 24 hours a day, except here," he complains. He says that "he has spoken with Alicia Páez", the island's councilwoman, and that she is "aware of it."
