A resident of Arrecife has sent a letter to La Voz de Lanzarote to denounce the “unsustainable” situation that, he says, users of municipal buses experience daily. According to his account, this Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., the temperature inside one of these vehicles reached 38 degrees, as shown in an attached photograph.

The affected individual states that this is not an isolated incident, but a recurring problem on hot days, due to the lack of air conditioning in the service. “It is unacceptable that in the 21st century we travel without such a basic service”, he criticizes, warning of the risk to the elderly, children, or users with health problems.

In his letter, the citizen reproaches the mayor for allocating “huge amounts of money” to events and celebrations, while “people suffer daily” on public transport. “The safety of citizens is non-negotiable”, he emphasizes, demanding urgent measures to guarantee a “dignified and safe” service, especially during times of high temperatures.
