The residents of the Agrupación Los Gofiones residential complex in Puerto del Carmen have accused the Hotel Bakour Lanzarote Splash of playing loud music every day until 11:00 p.m., blocking the rear windows of the ground floor apartments, and causing structural damage to at least one apartment.
In a letter sent to La Voz, the residents of Bakour Lanzarote Splash, formerly Aparthotel Puerto del Carmen, have reported that Bakour Lanzarote Splash, since its opening last June until now, "produces noises caused by loud music or live shows, which can be heard several blocks away".
Those allegedly affected by this situation have stated that "this has been disturbing people's sleep and tranquility every day and night since they opened".
They have also noted: "We cannot have a quiet time to rest or even read a book in our own homes". This group of people has explained that they have obtained signatures and comments from residents to send to the Tías City Council.
For its part, the Tías City Council assures that it will send the municipality's Local Police to check the decibels emitted by this establishment. Meanwhile, it assures that the hotel's works were "annoying" because it was a renovation that lasted many months.
However, they have assured that the case will be delayed for up to six months when the council goes to measure the decibels.
The noise level, which allegedly comes from children and adults, is from "screaming every day from the pool with the water slides, and the loud music from the pool bar, which is directly behind our apartments, only four meters away".
In addition to the noise, this group of people has reported that the residents of the apartments below "have the rear windows completely blocked from the outside by a bamboo fence, without anyone's permission".
To conclude, they have stated that a resident has "a very large crack in the wall at the rear of her apartment" and they relate it, "without a doubt, to damage from constant vibrations from the heavy excavators" that were used for the construction of the hotel.
The residents of Los Gofiones in Puerto del Carmen have added that they have tried to tackle this problem by contacting the hotel manager, "up to three times". They have also stated that "he does not respect that there are people living around the hotel".
