The driver from Lanzarote, Yeray Lemes, together with Rogelio Peñate, will return to activity this weekend, participating in one of the most important events on the Canarian calendar. The island of Gran Canaria hosts the dispute of the Rally Islas Canarias "Trofeo El Corte Inglés", an event that counts towards the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. An important test for Lemes' debut in the Junior World Championship.
Yeray Lemes and Rogelio Peñate will have a Ford Fiesta R2 from the Nupel Global Racing team and RMC Motorsport in the Rally Islas Canarias "El Corte Inglés". A vehicle that is very similar to the one they will have in the Junior World Championship, which in this case will be a Renault Clio Súper 1.600, with front-wheel drive and sequential gearbox.
The young driver from Lanzarote comments on his participation "the importance of riding with a vehicle that in its configuration is similar to the one we are going to use in the world championship". Yeray Lemes recalls that they have been participating in the Gran Canaria rally for several seasons, although "this year it is more attractive for drivers and fans". And regarding the objective set for this event, Yeray Lemes explains that "we are going to try to ride at a good pace, but above all we are going to try to assimilate all the sensations that will come to us in the immediate future".
Yeray Lemes' participation in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, better known as IRC", is not new. En 2008 he had the opportunity to take part in the Madeira Rally, an event in which he had a Mitsubishi. He also had the opportunity to take part in the Rally Príncipe de Asturias.
The Rally Islas Canarias "Trofeo El Corte Inglés" will have two stages and more than 220 timed kilometers. In the first stage, six timed sections will be held, where the "Fontanales" section with 24.85 km and the "Ingenio" section with 29.95 km stand out. Sections that will test the skill of the drivers and the resistance of the vehicles.
