The sport of kenpo is strengthened in the municipality of Yaiza thanks to the growth of its practice promoted by the Kenpo Karate Lanzarote Academy and the City Council presided over by Óscar Noda, which not only promote its regular training through the Yaiza Sports Schools program, but also the competition in sports competitions such as the third edition of the Kenpo Playa Blanca Tournament.
The event was held last weekend in the south of Lanzarote with the participation of more than one hundred children and young people between the ages of 4 and 16.
“Boys and girls enjoyed the sport and the enriching experience of competing, knowing how to win and lose, and they also enjoyed learning with the exhibition of martial arts masters invited to the Playa Blanca Tournament”, reports the Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, who values “the great work of the master and head of the academy Wellington Castro and that of his entire team”.
The director of the tournament explains that “the participants were divided into categories of age and level so that the youngest or those with less experience competed in the basic category and those with more experience did so in the intermediate category. This classification allowed all participants to have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their skills.”
Kenpo is a family in the south of the Island, whose members meet in Playa Blanca to practice a discipline that strengthens bonds of friendship and sportsmanship. The Kenpo school offers classes for boys and girls, young people and adults in the different modalities of sports combat, adapted to each age: Semi kenpo (point combat), Continuous Kenpo (light contact), Kenpo Submission and Full Kenpo, which combines all modalities in one.
