Unión Sur Yaiza wins a point against Telde to continue in the fight

Yaiza achieved a point in their visit to UD Telde, which feels like little considering how the match unfolded. The southerners took the lead when they were playing with one player less and saw Telde tie from the penalty spot.

Unión Sur Yaiza achieved an important point on Thursday morning in their visit to UD Telde, a result that leaves a bittersweet taste for the southern squad due to the way the match unfolded. The team led by José Labrador took the lead on the scoreboard and did so while playing with numerical inferiority on the field due to Crispy's expulsion at the beginning of the second half. Telde rescued a point thanks to the penalty converted by Leandro when there were only six minutes left until the end of the match. Unión Sur Yaiza ties at 48 points in fourth place along with Sporting San José and Arucas.

The first half was attractive for the fans who gathered at Pablo Hernández de Telde, with two teams on the field who were fully committed to offensive tasks. There were no transitions in the center of the field, with rapid arrivals at both goals and the good performance of the goalkeepers prevented the score from moving in the first half of the match.

The first chances of the match were for UD Telde. Aythami tried with a distant shot, the ball bounced in front of the goalkeeper and Ruymán resolved the action by sending the ball to a corner kick. And the second was starred by Kilian, executing a free kick and the Yaiza goalkeeper stretching to prevent the ball from sneaking into his goal.

The best chance for Unión Sur Yaiza in the first half would come after a cross from the right by Antonio Yeray, Juanca finished and goalkeeper Oliver rectified in the air to avoid the Yaiza goal. With the score tied at zero, the conclusion of the first half was reached, a period that only lacked a goal.

The second half began with a controversial action that could mark the course of the match. Airam knocked down the visitor Javi Melián inside the area, an action that was not punished as a penalty by the referee. Minutes later, Crispy saw two yellow cards in just five minutes and was sent off when the match was in the 14th minute of the second half. Yaiza had to play in numerical inferiority for half an hour.

UD Telde did not know how to read the match and was unable to play against a team that was playing with ten players. The clearest chance for the Telde team was a shot by Aythami that was repelled by the post of the goal. The one who did not fail was Unión Sur Yaiza. Miguel Yunes won the back of Leandro and in the one-on-one with goalkeeper Oliver beat him low.

The joy for Unión Sur Yaiza barely lasted five minutes, the time it took UD Telde to equalize on the scoreboard. A cross from the left wing touched Jona's hand and on this occasion the referee did not hesitate to whistle for the maximum penalty. Leandro was in charge of executing the penalty and establishing the tie at one goal with which the match came to an end.

A point that allows Unión Sur Yaiza to continue in the fight for the fourth position and play in the promotion play-off at the end of the campaign. Yaiza ties at 48 points with Arucas CF and Sporting San José, and CD Tenerife "B" is only one point away, which suggests that the fight will be fierce for the fourth position
