The lack of goals is being one of the pending issues of the current season for Unión Sur Yaiza, although this is not an impediment for the team trained by Carlos Rodríguez to continue in the positions that would give them the right to play the promotion phase at the end of the season. The southerners showed their effectiveness in front of goal on Saturday afternoon, defeating CD Vera 2-1 and leaving the three points that were at stake in the Municipal de Yaiza. Javi Melián and Aridane were the authors of the goals and goalkeeper Ruymán saved a penalty at the beginning of the second half, avoiding what would have been the equalizing goal.
The first part of the match was boring, with most of the game taking place in the center of the field. The two teams made many mistakes in the circulation of the ball, with very few dangerous chances and they barely reached the vicinity of the opposite area.
Unión Sur Yaiza would take the lead in the 21st minute of the first half. A good through ball from Rubén Rodríguez was taken advantage of by Javi Melián to get behind the defense, he saw the goalkeeper advancing to make a lob and although David touched the ball, it ended up sneaking into the back of the CD Vera goal.
It could be thought that the goal would change the panorama of the match, but it was not so and the first part that the two teams were offering continued to be boring. Patricio de Ara, coach of CD Vera, was not liking the panorama of the match and very angry made two changes before reaching the break. With the score of 1 to 0, the first part came to an end and the Lanzarote team went to the dressing room with a one-goal advantage.
The second part was much more entertaining than the first. CD Vera had an unbeatable opportunity in the 51st minute to tie the score. Aridane knocked Sergio down inside the area and the referee pointed out the maximum penalty. Raúl was in charge of executing the penalty, the goalkeeper Ruymán guessed the trajectory of the shot, deflecting the ball enough so that it crashed into the crossbar and a defender was the one who cleared the danger.
The one who did take advantage of his opportunity was Unión Sur Yaiza in the 60th minute of the match. Rubén Rodríguez hung a distant free kick inside the area, the Vera goalkeeper came out in the wrong way and Aridane headed the ball into the back of the net. CD Vera barely took three minutes to reduce the differences in the score. A good cross from Sergio was taken advantage of by Amorín to control the ball inside the area and beat Ruymán from below.
CD Vera took control of the match, with the Tenerife team trying everything, although not being successful in the final shot. The Tenerife team left many spaces on the field that could have been taken advantage of by Yaiza. The clearest opportunity was for Fouad in the 67th minute, being alone against David, with the goalkeeper sending the ball to a corner kick.
Until the end of the match it was a wanting and not being able to by CD Vera, and an absolute control by Unión Sur Yaiza that did not have difficulties to hold the meager advantage it had. With the result of 2 to 1, the match came to an end, with Unión Sur Yaiza adding three points that consolidate them in fourth place in the standings and increasing the differences with respect to the fifth classified.
