UD Lanzarote is desperately asking for the conclusion of the season in the Canarian group of the Third Division, being a toy in the hands of rival teams in this final stretch of the campaign. On Sunday midday, Unión Sur Yaiza knocked out the rojillos, taking a clear and forceful victory in the derby of the category. Despite taking the lead through Javi Betancort, UD Lanzarote conceded five goals. A double by Alex Yunes and goals from Miguel Yunes, Kamara and Dani García, gave the victory to the players trained by Juan Antonio Machín.

The start of the match was quite entertaining, with alternatives in the game and on the scoreboard. UD Lanzarote would take the lead in the 8th minute. Borja Vera executed a corner kick and Javi Betancort headed into the back of the net at the far post. The rojillo midfielder has been demonstrating his goalscoring ability in this final stretch of the campaign and being a key player in set-piece actions.

It took Unión Sur Yaiza three minutes to level the score. Miguel Yunes entered the rival area, taking advantage of the fragility of the visiting defenders, and beat goalkeeper Alejandro with a low shot.

The forces were evened on the field and Unión Sur Yaiza took the lead before reaching the first half hour of the match. A free kick taken by Javi Morales was finished off by Kamara, sending the ball into the back of the net. Miguel Yunes could have increased the difference in the 39th minute, but Alejandro deflected the striker's powerful shot. The first half concluded with a score of 2-1.

Unión Sur Yaiza took control of the game in the second half and there was only one team on the field. The goals to seal the victory took time to arrive, with the local team unleashing themselves in the final stretch of the match. For its part, UD Lanzarote lowered its performance considerably and with continuous reproaches between the players who were inside the field.

The third goal of the match arrived in the 78th minute. Guillermo snatched the ball from Javi Navarro on one of the sides, passed to the arrival of Alex Yunes and he only had to push it into the back of the net at the far post.

Unión Sur Yaiza rounded off the result and completed the rout in the final minutes of the match. Alex Yunes in the 84th minute and Dani García in the 85th minute, were in charge of putting the definitive 5-1 on the scoreboard. UD Lanzarote wandered around the field and Unión Sur Yaiza grew with the passing of the minutes, scoring the three points that were at stake in the Lanzarote derby.

The victory leaves Unión Sur Yaiza in fifth position and UD Lanzarote drops to thirteenth place, making a more than discreet end to the season. On the last day, Unión Sur Yaiza travels to Gran Canaria to face Villa de Santa Brígida and UD Lanzarote receives the visit of Panadería Pulido San Mateo.
