The Lanzarote Veteran Football League, organized by the Conejero Veteran Football Association (AFUVECO), experienced on Thursday night the rematch between CD Tinajo and Unión Sur Yaiza, with both teams fighting for a place in the Preferente category. A duel that had to be decided from the penalty spot, after reaching the end of the match with a 1-1 draw on the scoreboard. The southerners were more successful from the penalty spot and achieved promotion to the category.
The match, played at the Municipal Stadium of Argana, was marked by the equality in the game of both teams. CD Tinajo took the lead in the first half with a goal from Javi Pérez, and the break was reached with 1-0 in favor of Tinajo. In the second half, Jonatan Santana scored the equalizing goal for Unión Sur Yaiza, thus forcing the penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, Unión Sur Yaiza won 4-5, thus achieving promotion to the Preferente category of the Lanzarote Veteran Football League.
Playa Honda and San Bartolomé, play the final for the title
Playa Honda and San Bartolomé will play the grand final of the Lanzarote Veteran Football League, a match that will be played this Friday, June 20, starting at 8:30 p.m., at the Municipal Stadium of Argana.
The Conejero Veteran Football Association (AFUVECO) plans to close the 2025/2026 season on Saturday at noon, with an event at the Valterra Sociocultural Center and with the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council. The trophies of the season and the distinctions to the players will be awarded.
