UD Lanzarote or UD Las Palmas were going to win the San Ginés Tournament 2017, it remained to be seen who. For this, the two teams had 90 minutes ahead of them, which, if they ended in a draw, would benefit UD Lanzarote, but if not, the winner would have one more trophy at their headquarters.

Before the match began, the young Lanzarote pilot, only 15 years old, Raúl Hernández, made the honorary kick-off, also taking photographs with the teams and the referees and receiving a souvenir from UD Lanzarote and the Arrecife City Council.

UD Las Palmas took control of the ball from the beginning, but the orderly Lanzarote defense prevented forceful attacks from reaching Alejandro Martín's goal.

As the minutes passed, Maxi Barrera's team tried to settle down, but they couldn't against a rival that will be in a higher category next year.

Half an hour into the match, the clearest opportunity arrived. Benito, a player who is aiming for the first team, entered on the right wing, leaving the ball inside the small area to Erik Expósito, who finished by catching the Lanzarote goalkeeper off guard, who nevertheless managed to rectify to touch the ball just enough so that it hit the post.

UD Lanzarote continued to wait for their moment, but it did not arrive in the first 45 minutes, which ended with the initial result and with misfortune for Yeremi, a player from Gran Canaria who in the last stages of the first half suffered the fall of his goalkeeper in a clearance, dislocating his shoulder and having to be evacuated in an ambulance. The first reports indicate that the player may have to undergo surgery.

The changes made by Maxi Barrera at halftime took time to get into the game and that was taken advantage of by a clever UD Las Palmas that found gaps to do damage, but ran into a sensational Sasha, who had replaced Alejandro, making it clear that his youth and his audacity against rivals can be valid for the team.

However, the goalkeeper could do nothing against a free kick executed by Benito in a masterful way. The distant shot went through the same right corner of the rojillo goal and although the goalkeeper stretched, he could do nothing to prevent the goal.

Despite the impetus put in by UD Lanzarote, who had approaches to Josep's goal, they could not equalize the match, highlighting the play that Uri had in the 84th minute, after receiving from the left wing and shooting in front of the Gran Canaria team's goalkeeper, but doing so outside the three posts.

The yellow team immediately gave the sentence with a goal from Álex González that avoided any final surprise and thus won the forty-ninth edition of the San Ginés Tournament.
