UD Lanzarote Walking Football was crowned champion of the Christmas Tournament held in Seville, completing an impeccable tournament that confirms the evolution of a project that, despite being only three years old, already stands out on the national scene of this sport aimed at players over 50 years of age.
The club is made up of footballers of diverse nationalities, mainly South Americans, Spaniards, and Britons, and even has the good fortune to count on some former players from its parent club, Unión Deportiva Lanzarote. In their participation in Seville, the rojiblanco team began with a resounding 2-0 victory against a strong Real Betis, demonstrating their tactical discipline and ability to control the pace of the game from the outset. The second match, against Milhaços, ended in another 2-0 victory, keeping a clean sheet and showcasing an exceptional collective performance. These results were crucial, as only the winners of the four groups advanced to the knockout stage.
The semifinal against Sevilla was a great and hard-fought match, but UD Lanzarote dominated the game and secured another 1-0 victory, reaffirming their effectiveness and solidity in key momentsThe final, against a very strong and excellent A.D. Marbella, with a large number of players from the Spanish national team that participated in the recent Nations World Cup, was characterized by great balance between both teams, ending goalless in regulation time. In the penalty shootout, the Lanzarote team showed composure and precision, winning 3-2 and being crowned champions of the tournament
