UD Lanzarote has already presented its squad for the 2016/2017 season. Last Thursday, fans filled the assembly hall of the Hotel Lancelot, getting to know the players and members of the technical staff, who make up the UD Lanzarote squad to face a new sporting challenge in the Canarian group of the Third Division.
The presentation began with a video prepared by Orlando Ramos, which included images from last season and some of the snapshots from the first weeks of preseason training. A video that showed how the rojillo feeling and enthusiasm has been growing in these last campaigns, with the team managing to qualify twice in a row for the promotion phase to the Second Division "B".
The fans play an important role throughout the season, being the 12th player of UD Lanzarote. One of the most loyal fans of the Canarian group of the Third Division, and who was also recognized in this act. Nina, the godmother of UD Lanzarote, received a bouquet of flowers for her tireless work in each of the matches and being responsible for the raffle. And Carole Spendley was surprised with a bouquet of flowers, for her collaboration with the club and being one of the members of the group of British people who come to the stadium every week.
UD Lanzarote valued the important support offered by companies, being responsible for putting their grain of sand so that the new sports project of the club can be consummated. After all the companies that collaborate with UD Lanzarote were named, the managers of the rojillo club presented a picture with the photo of the squad to Orvecame-Cabrera Medina, Spar, Informática Lanzarote, Sands Beach Active, Informática Lanzarote and Hotel Lancelot, the place where the presentation took place on Thursday night.
Next, each of the members of the technical staff and the players that make up the UD Lanzarote squad for the 2016/2017 season were presented. A squad that in this new campaign once again combines youth and experience, reinforcing the team with players with a lot of experience in the Canarian group of the Third Division. The fans showed with applause the affection towards each of the rojillo players.
The night was going to be full of surprises and emotions. Ángel Gil, a player who has been with the club for 22 years and who started in the children's teams of UD Lanzarote, was honored in this presentation. An emotional Ángel Gil received the club's gold badge and a plaque highlighting his career at UD Lanzarote.
Ángel Gil was not the only one to be surprised on Thursday night. José Domingo Machín, president of UD Lanzarote, received recognition from his fellow Board members and was presented with the club's gold badge. For two stages he has been the highest authority of UD Lanzarote, experiencing the most difficult moments of the entity and taking the reins of the team in this last stage since 2009.
The presentation concluded with the musical performance of Davinia Páez, secretary of UD Lanzarote, who performed the song "Color Esperanza" by Diego Torres. The players of UD Lanzarote accompanied the performance and did not hesitate to perform the choruses for a season that is presented with enthusiasm and with the hope of achieving the greatest sporting successes.
